Instruments Available at the Blanco Telescope

 

 

DECam is a high-performance, wide-field CCD imager mounted at the prime focus of the Blanco 4-m telescope at CTIO. DECam imager contains 62 science CCDs with 520 megapixels and images 3 square degrees (2.2 degree wide field) at 0.263 arcsecond/pixel resolution.

NEWFIRM is a wide-field near-IR imager mounted at the f/8 Cassegrain focus of the Blanco 4-m telescope at CTIO.  The detector focal plane consists of four 2048 x 2048 arrays arranged in a 2 x 2 mosaic and images a 28' x 28' field at 0.4 arcsecond/pixel resolution between 1-2.4μm.
