Open Scientific Staff Position at NSF’s OIR Lab

Are you — or is someone you know — interested in supporting the US ground-based OIR astronomy community?

If so, we would like to draw your attention to the opportunity to join the scientific staff of the NSF’s National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory (NSF’s OIR Lab). Created on 1 October 2019 from the grand unification of NOAO with Gemini Observatory and LSST operations, NSF’s OIR Lab brings together diverse pathways for astronomical exploration, serves as a focal point for community coordination and collaboration, and enables the discoveries of the future.

Scientific staff at the OIR Lab support the operations of its five facilities: Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO), Gemini Observatory, Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO), the Community Science and Data Center (CSDC), and the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST).

Applications for the open Scientist position are welcome from both junior and senior members of the astronomical community. The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Scientist depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will initially support the US National Gemini Office (US NGO), a program within the OIR Lab’s Community Science and Data Center (CSDC).
