User Software: Java Update

Gemini will move to Java 8 with the next releases of user software, including the Observing Tool in June (for semester 2015B) and the Phase I Tool in September (for 2016A proposals). Java 8 is supported under the following platforms:
- Linux (32- and 64-bit);
- Mac OS X 10.8.3+ (Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite);
- Windows Vista, 7, 8, and Server 2008/2012.
Unsupported systems (including Mac OS older than 10.8 or Windows XP) will not be able to run these new Gemini Java applications. See the software blog at http://staff.gemini.edu/scisoft/2015/03/23/java-8 for more information.
