Virtual Gemini Science Meeting
August 12, 2021
#geminiobs21
23–26 August 2021
FINAL General Announcement
Registration for the first virtual Gemini Science Meeting (vGSM) will close this Sunday, 15 August 2021. Registration is at https://noirlab.edu/science/events/websites/gsm2021/registration and is free — there are no fees. All subsequent email notices will be sent only to registered attendees. This will be the final announcement to the general Gemini User Community.
Registered participants will receive access to the Whova virtual meeting platform, which will allow attendees to view talks, participate in Q&A sessions, engage in one-to-one chats with speakers, and more broadly network with other vGSM attendees.
The vGSM will be a combination of invited science talks, observatory updates, hands-on training sessions, and generous time for questions and discussion. There will be a special focus on upcoming instrumentation. This meeting is meant to bridge the gap between the last Gemini science meeting in 2018 and the next in-person meeting, currently planned for Summer 2022. Owing to the limited daily time available for the meeting because of partnership time zone constraints, contributed talks have not been solicited. The schedule is available here.
