Introduction
We are happy to announce the 2025 NOIRLab Science Conference: The Solar System in Context. This is the third in the regular series of NOIRLab-sponsored conferences; this year’s conference is focused on the interdisciplinarity of the formation and evolution of the Solar System, exoplanetary systems, and their stars.
Our understanding of planet formation and system evolution has grown tremendously over the past few decades, expanding from the study of our Solar System to the thousands of planetary systems discovered across our local neighborhood. Yet there is much that remains to be unravelled, and as the amount of data available continues to grow, so does the number of questions yet to be answered. The motivation for this four-day NOIRLab conference is to bring together members across the Solar System, exoplanet, and stellar communities to discuss planetary science from a broad, interconnected perspective. The conference will explore our understanding of planet formation and system evolution from each of these disciplines with the goal of connecting the dots between each area of study and working toward developing a more comprehensive picture of these important processes.
The conference will feature talks and poster presentations by experts in the fields of Solar System science, exoplanets, and solar analogues as well as sessions designed for discussion and active engagement by participants.
Join us as we deepen our understanding of the formation and evolution of planetary systems and broaden our perspectives on the context of our Solar System among the thousands of varied planetary systems that stretch across the galaxy.
