Gemini Large and Long Programs: 2024

March 8, 2024

The Gemini Large and Long Program (LLP) is offered annually and is open for the submission of proposals for semesters starting in 2024B with the deadline of 1 April 2024. Letters of Intent were due on 20 February, but proposals will still be accepted without a corresponding letter. LLPs are Principal Investigator-defined and -driven programs that, as a guideline, either require significantly more time than a partner typically approves for a single program or extend over two to six semesters, or both. In other words, proposals don’t have to be Large AND Long, but rather Large, Long, or both. The participating partners (only US and Canada at this time) will make up to 20% of their time at each telescope available for LLPs over the next six semesters. A separate TAC for LLPs will be convened, and while there is no restriction on Co-Investigtors, PIs must be from either participating country.

The full 2024 call can be found here and includes the estimated time available as well as the instrument availability. If there are further questions not addressed on the website, please send an email to largeprograms@gemini.edu.
