Webinars on Gemini’s New GHOST Instrument Available Online

Over the past month Gemini staff held a series of webinars to introduce our new facility instrument, the Gemini High-resolution Optical SpecTrograph (GHOST), to the Gemini Community. The first of these webinars, titled What is GHOST? described the capabilities of GHOST, detailed the many ways to apply for GHOST time, and answered questions from the community. The second and third webinars described the science results from the GHOST System Verification process.

These webinars are now available online via the NOIRLab Science website. The What is GHOST webinar includes a live demo of how to use the Gemini Phase I Tool (PIT) and the Observing Tool (OT) with GHOST to help the community prepare their 2024A GHOST proposals.

Last but not least, Gemini staff recently gave an introduction to the International Gemini Observatory and an overview of how to apply for time to students participating in the K-GMT Summer School. This webinar was recorded and is also available at the NOIRLab Science website to help the Gemini community understand Gemini’s capabilities and proposal application process.
