NSF’s NOIRLab at the 243rd American Astronomical Society Meeting
January 4, 2024
NSF's NOIRLab will be attending the 243rd American Astronomical Society meeting next week and we look forward to seeing you there! Find out more about our presence at AAS 243 on this webpage.
There will be opportunities to meet with staff in the exhibit hall at the NOIRLab, Vera C. Rubin Observatory and the US Extremely Large Telescope Program (US-ELTP) booths. If you have data, an active observing program, or even a vague idea for a project, visit the booth any time during exhibit hall hours to chat with our staff. Appointments for Gemini-specific questions can also be made via email to david.jones@noirlab.edu or at the booth during the meeting. You can also learn more about NOIRLab in our Town Hall on Wednesday 10 January at 12:45 p.m. CT, Rubin Observatory in the Town Hall on Thursday 11 January at 12:45 p.m. CT, and Gemini Observatory during our two splinter sessions on Wednesday 10 January at 10:00 a.m. CT and 2:00 p.m. CT.
On a more social note, please join us on Tuesday evening 9 January at 6:45 p.m. CT at the Joint Open House for NOIRLab and the US-ELTP. Meet staff from NOIRLab, the Giant Magellan Telescope, and the Thirty Meter Telescope, and hear about the objectives of the US-ELTP and the status of the observatories. We look forward to talking with you about this exciting project that will offer tremendous opportunities for scientific progress in the coming decades and beyond. Complimentary refreshments will be provided, sponsored by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
