ALMA and JWST results of the z=9.1 galaxy MACS1149-JD1
Since 2016, we have observed a gravitationally magnified galaxy, MACS1149-JD1, by using ALMA. The spectroscopic redshift z=9.1096 of this galaxy was determined by the 7-sigma detection of the [OIII] 88 um emission line (Hashimoto et al. 2018). Follow-up ALMA observations with high spatial resolution revealed a clear velocity gradient of the emission line, which was interpreted as a possible rotation (Tokuoka et al. 2022). There are two remarkable features in near-infrared data of JD1; a strong flux density difference between Spitzer/IRAC [3.6] and [4.5], which was interpreted as a Balmer break, indicating the presence of an old stellar population. The other feature was a possible detection of the LyA emission line in the spectrum of VLT/Xshooter. Now, reports of JWST observations for this galaxy came out. I will discuss what is confirmed and what is not by using JWST.
