SynthPop - a modular framework to generate synthetic population galaxy models.

Galactic population synthesis models have become an invaluable tool in various areas of astronomy involving the Milky Way. The use cases range from gaining better insights into the composition and dynamics of the Milkyway via planning observational campaigns, to evaluating different hypotheses. 

Current tools to generate synthetic galaxy models are specifically tuned for individual models and parameters. This prevents a fair comparison between individual components.

For this purpose we developed SynthPop, a modular framework to generate synthetic Population models, which I will present in this Talk. Synthpop aims to give the user the option to modify and optimize models for personal use cases and provides a tool for comparison between different models within a single framework, allowing users to swap out model components. 

Further, I will highlight several use cases from testing the impact of individual parameters to estimating expected microlensing event rates for the Roman Telescope. 

Finally, I will show how SynthPop helps us to analyze our DECam observations for the MISHAPS survey.
