Kitt Peak National Observatory 50th Anniversary Part I

Kitt Peak National Observatory, a Program of NSF NOIRLab, was dedicated in March 1960. On March 22, 2010, in celebration of the 50th anniversary, Kitt Peak National Observatory’s first Director Dr. Aden B. Meinel spoke about the history of the national observatory and Bernard Siquieros, Education Curator of the Tohono O’odham Nation’s Cultural Center and Museum, shared a Tohono O’odham perspective on the meaning and history of Iolkam Du’ag, or Kitt Peak, and the Baboquivari Range.
