Citizen scientist Melina Thévenot of Germany, a Backyard Worlds

Planet 9 volunteer who discovered the unusual infrared properties of the dusty white dwarf star J0207. Backyard Worlds researchers followed up Thévenot’s intriguing discovery with the Keck II telescope atop Hawaii’s Mauna Kea summit, one of the world’s foremost astronomical observing facilities. Thévenot is one of two citizen scientists listed as co-authors on the resulting paper.
