M85, NGC 4382

A lenticular galaxy of type S0, M85 is the northernmost member of the Virgo Cluster, and is therefore situated in the constellation Coma Berenices. M85 is very similar to M84. This picture was made from observations taken at KPNO's 0.9-meter telescope in December 1996. The Virgo cluster also includes Messier galaxies M49, M58, M59, M60, M61, M84, M86, M87, M88, M89, M90, M91, M98, M99, and M100.
