A close-up on two galactic members of the Virgo Cluster as imaged by NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory. During its First Look observations Rubin discovered more than 2100 new asteroids zipping across the Virgo Cluster, indicated by the tri-colored streaks scattered throughout the image. Compare it with a version of the image in which the asteroids have been removed to get a sense of how many Rubin will capture across the entire southern night sky.
