Installing dark-sky lamps in Vicuña

Stuartt Corder, Mission Scientist of AURA in Chile and Deputy Director of NOIRLab (left), and Rafael Vera, the mayor of Vicuña (right), inspect a new dark-sky-friendly lamp ready for installation in Vicuña. AURA and NOIRLab donated 19 street lamps that comply with new Chilean lighting standards, renewing the lighting in the square at the western entrance of the city.
