Gemini North Construction: Almost Finished

Looking from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope near the summit of Maunakea in Hawai‘i, the Gemini North telescope is beginning to look like an imposing structure. The dome is in weather tight condition with its vents closed. This image was captured on 27 October 1997, when the telescope was nearing the end of its construction phase.
