The "Caça Asteroides MCTI" project offers the possibility of popularizing and democratizing science in Brazil through Astronomy. Through the voluntary action of citizen scientists, the project contributes to the formation of scientific thinking in participants, as they take part in training and work practically with the analysis of images through the pre-processing of information obtained by some of the partner observatories of the IASC (International Astronomical Search Collaboration) on searching for possible asteroids and near-Earth objects (NEOs).

Using the idea of citizen science, the participants are part of a collaborative work environment for the democratization of knowledge, both in a local team and by contributing to the global scientific community through the identification of celestial objects. In this way, they are able to further develop their teamwork skills. In addition, these activities can contribute to the formation of a critical citizen. Technical and scientific knowledge is necessary to achieve advances for society as a whole, so it is essential to value and to popularize Science.

Their main objectives are:
• Popularize Science through Astronomy-related activities, allowing students to learn about new opportunities for access to scientific careers and contribute to national development;
• Develop playful educational practices in Astronomy through local Science Clubs so that knowledge can be understood and contextualized by everyone, encouraging and assisting in the dissemination of Astronomy;
• Conduct face-to-face and virtual workshops with local Science Clubs, partners, amateur astronomers, science communicators, etc.
• Provide national and international meetings to present their research and discoveries;
• Provide international technical training for the team that achieves the best results in 2023.
• Popularize Asteroid Day activities
