Keiki and their families are invited to reach for the stars at the AstroDay celebration Saturday 5 November from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kona Commons Shopping Center in Kailua-Kona. Organized by the Maunakea Astronomy Outreach Committee (MKAOC), this free, open-air event is an entertaining and star-studded opportunity for the community to learn about the science of astronomy and the incredible discoveries being made by the telescopes on Maunakea. The Maunakea Observatories and other science-based and community organizations will offer engaging and informative science exhibitions and as well as free science kits to take home. Outreach Assistant Jameeka Marshall will lead NOIRLab's participation. There will be a hands-on solar system activity and AstroKits composed of beautiful astronomical images, cultural astronomy and science activity handouts available for pickup. Visitors will also have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the Gemini North summit and base facility!
