Virgo Cluster Excerpt: NGC 4261

A trail of celestial objects stretches across this excerpt from a First Look image captured by NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory. The most prominent feature is NGC 4261, the large elliptical galaxy in the top half of the image. In the bottom-left of the image is the lenticular galaxy NGC 4281. Between and around the two lies a cosmic treasure chest of galaxies and stars.
