PK205+14.1: The Medusa Nebula

The Medusa Nebula is a very ancient planetary nebula in the constellation of Gemini. Note that the inner bubble still has hints of blue and green structure, indicating that the central star (the slightly bluish one to the right of center) is still hot and makes the gas fluoresce.

This image was taken as part of Advanced Observing Program (AOP) program at Kitt Peak Visitor Center during 2014.
