M86, NGC 4406

M86 is a lenticular galaxy, although some prefer to call it an elliptical, and a member of the large Virgo Cluster of galaxies, in the constellation Virgo. M86 is about 60 million light-years away, maybe 25000 light-years across, and was imaged by the KPNO 4-meter Mayall telescope in 1975. We also have a newer color image from the KPNO 0.9-m telescope.
