The Waimea Solar System Walk is an annual community event supported by the Maunakea Observatories. This year’s walk is virtual and runs from March 15 through April 15. On this week’s show, we’ll discuss the process of creating the walk and translating the videos. Each solar system object is represented with a sidewalk decal that contains an image of the object and a QR code that leads to a video created by Maunakea Observatory staff members describing the object in English and 'Ōlelo Hawai'i. The Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, W.M. Keck Observatory and University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy Hilo worked together to organize this year's event.
