Goodman Radial Velocity Measurements - Update
Submitted by jelias on Wed, 2018-09-12 16:56
With a a little care, the Goodman HTS is capable of producing accurate radial velocities. For typical stars, the results are accurate to a few km/sec at moderate spectral resolution. It is, however, necessary to follow optimum procedures when observing to ensure quality results. A detailed report is now available, supplementing older material.
The new report outlines the recommended procedures for observing and data reduction, and shows examples of the results that can be obtained. Anyone interested in getting good stellar radial velocities should read the document before observing (ideally, before proposing). Any questions may be directed to the authors of the report.
