Gemini Users Set Record with Publications and AO Results in 2014
January 20, 2015
Gemini users completed 2014 with a record number of publications, and the use of adaptive optics (AO) continued to increase. Users published a total of 224 refereed papers, 131 using Gemini North and 128 using Gemini South. (Note that some papers make use of data from both telescopes.) Over 20% (51 papers) relied on Gemini’s AO systems. 2014 was the first year for Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) science observations after commissioning, starting with public data and system verification. Among the AO results: six GPI papers were published during the year, and two more are currently in press. Marshall Perrin (Space Telescope Science Institute) presented some GPI results at a press conference during the American Astronomical Society meeting earlier this month. (See the Gemini media advisory, which includes a link to a video of the press conference.)
The full list of 2014 Gemini publications is online and searchable.
