Gemini Fast Turnaround: September 2023

We are pleased to announce the 23B GHOST Shared-risk Call for Proposals through the Gemini Fast Turnaround (FT) Program. The upcoming deadline is 12:00 (noon) Hawai‘i Standard Time on 30 September 2023. Proposals are being accepted for Gemini South only, and for GHOST Shared-risk time only. For successful proposals this cycle, observations will be conducted during the GHOST run in December 2023. 

The GHOST run is planned for 30 November – 19 December (see the 23B instrument schedules for details, or contact the FT team at fast.turnaround@gemini.edu for any questions). Make sure to check the Call for Proposals for further details, in particular on the time available to each participant this cycle. Please also make sure to check the GHOST webpages for more information and for details on applying for time on this new instrument.

The FT program has been used to conduct pilot studies, complete observations for existing data sets, follow up newly discovered objects, and much more. Proposers will have two weeks to peer-review up to eight other proposals. Results for this call will be announced around 1 November. The FT program uses a dual anonymous peer review process (DARP). Proposals must use the FT DARP proposal templates and be anonymized as described in the FT Call for Proposals.
