Announcing GHOST Community Webinars

July 17, 2023

We are pleased to announce two webinars to introduce our new facility instrument, the Gemini High-resolution Optical SpecTrograph (GHOST), to the Gemini Community. The topic of the first of these webinars will be What is GHOST? We will describe the capabilities of GHOST, detail the many ways to apply for GHOST time, and answer questions from the community. Our second webinar will detail the science results from the System Verification process.

Each webinar will be held at two separate times to enable attendance from participants in different time zones. The first will be held on Thursday 27 July at 00:00 UTC (20:00 CLT/EDT, 17:00 PDT/MST, 14:00 HST) and Monday 31 July at 18:00 UTC (14:00 CLT/EDT, 11:00 PDT, 08:00 HST).

The second webinar will be held on Wednesday 2 August at 23:00 UTC (19:00 CLT/EDT, 16:00 PDT, 13:00 HST) and Tuesday 8 August at 18:00 UTC (14:00 CLT/EDT, 11:00 PDT/MST, 08:00 HST). More information, registration forms, and Zoom links are available at this website.

We have also begun providing public, reduced data from GHOST via the system verification website. System verification programs with available data will include the text “link to the data evaluation and analysis” next to their program titles. Additional data will be posted over the coming weeks as the data-reduction software is finalized.
