TMT Webinar Series #2: TMT science instrument capabilities

Following the first webinar held in December and January, the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) Science Advisory Committee (SAC) is now organizing the second webinar about the science capabilities of the TMT. The purpose of the webinar is to share TMT science capabilities with international science development team (ISDT) members and others in the TMT community. The TMT SAC is expecting that this information will be useful for the upcoming update of the TMT Detailed Science Case by the ISDT.

There will be two webinars with identical content to cover multiple time zones:

Asia timezone webinar:
25 April 2023 22:00–24:00 (Pacific) 
26 April 2023 01:00–03:00 (Eastern) 14:00–16:00 (Japan) 13:00–15:00 (China) 10:30–12:30 (India)

North American time zone webinar:
27 April 2023 15:00–17:00 (Pacific) 18:00–20:00 (Eastern) 
28 April 2023 3:30–5:30 (India) 7:00–9:00 (Japan) 6:00–8:00 (China) 

The program is as follows:

  • Overview of the TMT instrumentation (David Andersen) (15 min)
  • Infrared Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) (James Larkin) (25 min)
  • Wide Field Optical Spectrometer (WFOS) (Eric Peng, Chuck Steidel) (25 min)
  • Multi-Objective Diffraction-limited High-resolution Infrared Spectrograph (MODHIS) (Dimitri Mawet) (25 min)
  • Overview of the SAC discussions on future capabilities (Masayuki Akiyama) (15 min)
  • 15 min for Q&A for overall (including 5 min Q&A for each talk)
