TMT Community Survey
August 31, 2014
NOAO has organized the US Thirty Meter Telescope Science Working Group (US TMT SWG) as part of a cooperative agreement between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the TMT Observatory. The SWG is helping to develop a plan for possible future NSF participation in TMT. It includes astronomers from institutions across the US, and represents the interests of the US-at-large astronomical community in the TMT project. Members of the SWG serve on the TMT Science Advisory Committee, and AURA also has representatives on the TMT Board of Governors.
The SWG would like your input on how you would use TMT for your scientific research, and on the instrumentation, operations, time allocation, and data management issues you view as most important to maximize the scientific return of TMT for the US astronomical community.
As part of this process, the SWG would like you to fill out a short TMT US community survey. Most of the survey consists of multiple choice questions, which should only take 10 to 15 minutes to answer. There are also some optional "essay questions" where you can provide additional information or opinions about various issues.

Please respond by Monday, 6 October 2014.
Although the SWG is primarily tasked with evaluating the US astronomical community's interests, scientists from other countries are welcome to respond to the survey, as well.
The SWG has also compiled some useful background information about TMT, its adaptive optics, instrumentation, observing modes and capabilities, data management, time allocation, the project status and timeline, the partnership, construction and operations costs, and about US participation in TMT:
If you have additional questions or comments, please write to the US TMT SWG.
