Gemini South Maintenance Shutdown

August 5, 2024

The Gemini South telescope will be shut down for maintenance between 22 July and 15 August 2024. During this time we will perform the annual maintenance for the Acquisition and Guiding system as well as replace helium lines with the Cassegrain rotator cable wrap. All instruments and ISS were removed from the telescope in preparation for the removal of the Cassegrain Rotator. Additionally, while GMOS-S is off the telescope, we will begin maintenance work that is expected to last until 21 August.
