Gemini Researchers Receive Prestigious Canadian Award

NIRI/Altair + Laser-guide-star image of NGC 7027 from Gemini North. The image is a two-color composite, [Fe II] emission is coded in the white color, molecular hydrogen emission [H2 (S 1-0)] is shown in red. The central star of the system is apparent in the middle of the nebula. Details as small as ~0.125” are discernable in the image. Particularly interesting is the appearance of the dust lane that runs approximately top to bottom across the nebula. This is also visible in the HST data shown below.
